Owens Corning® Types 703 & 705 700 Series® Fiberglas™ Insulation Boards are made of inorganic glass fibers held together with a special type of glue called a thermosetting resin binder. These fibers are formed into semi-rigid or rigid boards. Both types of insulation boards in this series are available with two different facings: factory-applied FRK or poly-encapsulated ASJ Max. These protective coverings help to advance the fiberglass insulation board’s durability and performance.

Fiberglass insulation boards can offer multiple benefits for your next mechanical insulation project. Glass fiber insulation boards help save energy by reducing heat transfer, which can assist in lowering operating costs. The 700 Series® insulation boards are available with ASJ Max facings, which have a smooth, durable, and easy-to-clean polymer-film exterior to resist water staining and prevent mold or mildew growth. ASJ Max can also withstand brief exposure to liquid water during construction without damage. Additionally, our rigid fiberglass insulation boards maintain their structural integrity, assisting in long-term efficiency, and contributing to reducing sound transmission. Best of all, even with their durability, their lightweight and resilient nature makes them easy to handle and work with at construction sites.

Applications

Owens Corning® Type 703 insulation boards are semi-rigid use for mechanical equipment, air conditioning ductwork, and walls and ceilings.

Owens Corning® Type 705 insulation boards are high-strength rigid boards used on chillers, other mechanical equipment, walls, ceilings, and heating and air conditioning ductwork. Choose these rigid fiberglass insulation boards in applications where high-abuse resistance and good, finished appearance is essential.

Our 700 Series® Fiberglas™ Insulation Boards offer a range of size availability options to cater to your various application needs. Both the 703 and 705 insulation boards come in widths spanning from 45" to 49" and lengths that vary from 24" to 121". Designed to suit different application needs, the thickness options for Type 703 range from 3/4" to 4". For Type 705 boards, the thickness range is from 1/2" to 2 1/2". This extensive range in dimensions makes Type 703 and 705 Insulations versatile and adaptable for various construction and insulation applications.

FLATWORK

When fiberglass insulation boards are used for flatwork applications in construction, they are typically placed under concrete slabs, within walls, or beneath flooring materials to provide thermal and acoustic insulation. This insulation provides a range of benefits including energy efficiency, heat loss reduction, and enhancing acoustic comfort in commercial buildings.

mechanical room

In mechanical rooms, fiberglass insulation boards are wrapped or enclosed around equipment such as boilers, chillers, and pumps. This creates thermal and acoustic barriers helping to reduce noise emissions and heat loss.

piping

In piping applications, fiberglass insulation boards are typically used to insulate hot water, steam, or cold water pipes, depending on specific requirements. Type 703 is known for its high-temperature performance, making it suitable for insulating hot water and steam pipes where temperatures are elevated. Type 705 is effective at preventing condensation, which makes it appropriate for insulating cold water or chilled water pipes. Check the temperature range and insulation requirements of your piping system to determine if Owens Corning® Type 703 or 705 is best for your commercial insulation project.
