PARTNERSHIPS & INITIATIVES

Because we make building materials for homes (and commercial buildings), we’re well-positioned to help provide shelter in communities around the world. Here are a few of our recent partnerships and initiatives:

Roof Deployment Project

Since 2016, Owens Corning has partnered with our Platinum Preferred roofing contractors and charitable partners in the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project. Through this program, contractors are given the opportunity to volunteer their services to a veteran in need, while Owens Corning donates the roofing materials. With more than 500 veterans having benefited from the program, we will continue to help those that have sacrificed for our country.

The Gary Sinise Foundation

Founded by actor and philanthropist Gary Sinise, the organization supports U.S. defenders, first responders, veterans, and their loved ones. Our partnership directly supports the R.I.S.E. (Restoring Independence, Supporting Empowerment) program, which builds specially adapted homes for severely wounded U.S. military members and their families.

We donate insulation and roofing products for homes built through the program and work with contractors who volunteer in the construction of those homes. Our commitment to supporting safe, efficient housing for people in need makes R.I.S.E. a perfect fit for Owens Corning. As our employees — especially those who have family members in the armed services — see the difference these new homes can make for U.S. veterans, our participation is a true source of pride.

Habitat for Humanity

Owens Corning and the OC Foundation are longtime supporters of Habitat for Humanity. Since 2016, through donations of building materials, financial support and our employee volunteerism, we have helped to build and renovate 873 homes for deserving families.

Local Initiatives Support Corporation Toledo

In Toledo, Ohio, where our global headquarters are located, families of color are half as likely as white families to own their own home. In an effort to close the racial wealth gap and expand homeownership opportunities, the Owens Corning Foundation has made a $1 million, multi-year commitment to Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) Toledo, a community development financial institution.

Core City Rehabilitation

The OC Foundation’s LISC commitment also supports Core City Rehabilitation projects, in which LISC collaborates with neighborhood partners to to renovate homes throughout downtown Toledo and nearby neighborhoods. The houses are then sold to owner-occupants, which helps increase property values and stability in these communities. In addition, our commitment will fund efforts to grow the capacity of small contracting businesses owned by members of underrepresented groups and woman-owned contracting businesses and invest in civic and community engagement projects. The population of homeowners who benefit from the Core City project is 75% BIPOC, 58% female head of household, and an average income of $47,000 per year.
