Working with M&M was a pleasure. We worked with them for gutters and was happy to use them for our new roof.
I will not recommend M&M to anyone. Everything went smoothly until I pointed out that the original work done did not satisfy the contract. At which point, I was yelled at, talked down to, called a liar by the salesperson, gaslighted by the superintendent. The reasons provided by the salesperson, superintendent and lead superintendent were deceitful. The edge vent was to be installed at the roof's edge - as stated in the contract. The installers performed an "off edge" installation of the Lomanco DA-4 edge vent (as defined on the manufacturer's website). The contract very clearly stated that the edge vent would be installed at the roof's edge. I was also told that installing at the edge would be a risk for ice damns. This was also debunked on the manufacturer's website. All 3 of the individuals I spoke with at this company tried to convince me that installing the edge vent ~36" back from the roof's edge was indeed the roof's edge. When I challenged this, I asked, "If you want me to give you ~36" and call that the roof's edge, then you would need to give me ~36" going up the roof. By your logic, I could then argue that you installed the edge event in the middle of my roof. Would you be willing to give that to me?" None of them would because it doesn't make any sense. After going through the same song and dance with the 3rd person I talked to at the company, the lead super intendent, I apologized. I said, "Sorry for getting emotional about this, this is the 3rd time I have had to go through this dance, I just don't know how many more times I need to do it!?". When I said this, he backed down, and said that they would come back out and move the edge vent down to the roof's edge. In original emails with the sales person, he shared pictures of 2 types of installation methods: installation at the roof's edge & off edge installation. He shared: "With edge vent, some install right at the gutter line, we typically prefer to install a little further up on the roof like some of the photos show." My concern was how the edge vent would look. After receiving the contract that read: "Will install Edge Vent which provides continues intake airflow at the roof's edge." and looking at the pictures provided by the salesperson, I assumed that the edge vent would be installed at .... THE ROOF'S EDGE. When I brought this up, I was gas lighted, told inaccuracies about the rationale for doing things this way, talked down to and was told that I was a liar (I have emails - please let me know if you would like to see them). A mistake was made by M&M and there has been no accountability, no real apology. After bringing it up, I waited for phone call follow ups. I had to initiate all phone call follow ups to get the work completed with respect to the contract. I was bullied by the salesperson. I was threatened with late fees. Through this ordeal, I had to figure out for myself how edge vent can be installed. I had to look into venting. I had to look into ice damming. I called Lomanco. I called lawyers. Resources here to share with your team so that they can learn the product better: https://media.lomancovents.com/all_access/instructions/22035_deckair_instructions.pdf https://media.lomancovents.com/all_access/sales_literature/lo496_da-4_ice_dam.pdf I also learned in this process that after the work was completed upon initial installation, my roof was left with a short circuited ventilation system. The gable vents in my roof were left open after the new ridge vent and edge vent were installed. No one told me this during the entire process. When I brought this up with my salesperson, he said that I would need to pay for everything first and then open up a new ticket for the repairs. I received change orders for flashing color, shingle color and adding a new vent. I never received a change order to change the edge vent installation from an edge installation to an off edge installation. Never. This was not approved by me. The argument from everyone I've spoken with on this matter has been that the work was done and we have a properly ventilated roof. I am not arguing that at all. My understanding with this project was what was clearly stated in the contract - that the edge vent would be installed at the roof's edge. THAT WAS NOT DONE IN THE INITIAL INSTALLTION!! A similar situation would be me asking for my house to be painted white, signing a contract that said the house would be painted white and the painter coming in and painting it hot pink. And when the situation was brought up to the painter that the house was painted hot pink, the painter telling me, "The house was painted. We did what the contract said - we painted the house. You must pay us because we painted your house" After about a month, the situation was finally resolved.
